A GC. It’s what the team has been chasing since the formation in S36. The search started in Monte Rosa Tour where Wysong and Pilarski went hunting. The journey then took us to American where Lincoln Hannity picked up 2 YCs in 3 seasons and even came within 15s of the title. In between that Hannity also claimed the Norway YC but never came close to the GC.
However. This season. That Changed
The season can be easily summarised. In the early stages there was success culminating in Rudi Basa finishing 4th in the Volta as a very dark horse. Then from day 22 to day 56 it all went wrong, scoring 0 points in this time despite there being 10 races where we should/could have been competitive. However from the darkest tunnels shine the brightest lights. On day 56 Iancu Raducioiu started the turn around, picking up a podium before claiming the Vuelta a Valparaiso GC.
I won’t lie there have been numerous times in previous seasons when Iancu has seemed to be not good enough and so a big title is a fantastic achievement for him and the team.
Iancu Raducioiu - 530 points / 6 results / 2 wins
Having struggled in S46 and looking lost for the first half of S47 Iancu managed to pull it out of the bag with a golden top form period that yielded all 530 points. Will be back next season to defend his crown.
Rudi Basa - 244 points / 2 results / 1 win
Went into the Volta with no expectations, left as a marked man. Victory on the mid tour TT shot him into the limelight and will be back this season to try and go 1 better and finish on the podium.
Lincoln Hannity - 240 points / 2 results
4 Off Days as captain hindered him but the real problem was having to play second fiddle for team mates at various times. Will be hoping for more next season.
Sylwester Pilarski - 170 points / 1 result
Not a bad haul given the chances available. Nowadays is more of a super domestique than a captain but can score when given the chance.
Gyenge Rubik - 100 points
Very little to show, only got captaincy chances at the end of the season by which point the team had started to prepare for next season. Needs a big season to properly showcase his talent.
Anselmo Zubizarreta - 0 points
Failed to take chances, regularly cracking under the pressure of captaincy and having off days. Shored up the tour team though, putting in some big performances at Valpa.
Sadiq Chakraborty - 0 points
Maxed lower than hoped but still has potential. Will be spending S48 looking at U23 races and supporting Arpad. Now competing against Arun Abedin to see who can get the first Bangladesh victory and also for most all time Bangladesh points.
S48 Targets
Win Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa Cup in Arpad we have a ready made favourite.
Podium at Volta a Porto with Rudi base
Defend Valpa title with Raducioiu
